A Tribute to Nurjehan

Nurjehan started singing as Baby Nurjehan in mid 1930s. However one of the first surviving recordings is from 1939 film, Gulbakauli, produced in Lahore by Pancholi Art Production. By then she was already one of the most sought after Actress/Singer. For over half a century she reigned as the melody queen, until poor health forced her retirement.

Nurjehan inspired generations of young singers in Pakistan and other South Asian countries.

Samina Iqbal is one of them. A truly gifted artist Samina also has that rare God given ability to turn the most difficult phrase with natural ease. A real find.
